Group meets
The First Presbyterian Dialogue Group continues discussions
about events and activities that affect the community.
The session begins at 6:30 pm in the Library of the First
Presbyterian Church downtown. Enter the church on First Avenue
across from the CB&T parking garage between 11th and 12th
Streets.

Wednesday, April 22 - Race Relations Breakfast
Gwendolyn Ruff, SPHR Vice President Deputy Director of
Customer, Employee, and Financial Services will be the eleventh
presenter for the series "My Challenges with Race" which
features presentations who share their experiences with
diversity and race.

Wednesdays continuing April
22 - Billy Winn will teach "Let Justice Run Down Like Water
- Race Relations in
Columbus from 1828 to
Present"
The course will continue on Wednesday nights for four more
weeks. Everyone is welcome. You may join the sessions anytime.
They will meet in the Parlor of the First Presbyterian Church.
"This course will trace the history of race relations in
Columbus and the Chattahoochee Valley, and will cover relations
between white settlers and the Indians, including their
enslavement; the slavery of people of African descent and the
role the churches played in regard to that institution;
secession and the Civil War; the post Civil War era and
Reconstruction; the Jim Crow era and the modern Civil Rights
movement; and race relations in recent years"

and the Springer Opera House plan Diversity Event
SHRM is partnering with the Business Resource Center and the
Springer to present "Charm School," Good-old-boy warehouse
worker Raymond Sauders finds himself in hot water when his
company is targeted for a discrimination lawsuit because of a
joke he told in the break room. The presentation is followed
with audience participation in a discussion that comes out of
issues raised in the performance. It's an all morning affair
that ends with lunch.

The American Red Cross West Central GA Chapter continues to
offer free CPR training and certification in the following
locations listed below.
In addition, the Red Cross will be traveling to surrounding
counties to distribute materials including fire prevention and
tornado safety.

Following the very successful Inaugural Diversity Forum on
January 17th WTVM-TV announced that the second in the series
will be live from the Studio Theater of the RiverCenter on
Thursday, April 30, at 7:00pm. This event comes at the 100 days
of Barack Obama's presidency. You need to register now

The MCSD has scheduled forums where you can make suggestions and
evaluate the proposed project priority list for the continuation
of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. You can access
