First Presbyterian Dialogue Group meets
The First Presbyterian Dialogue Group faces several challenges
regarding their future direction. How to handle the parole
system still has not been resolved, and the community
organization aspect of the group's work is tos be determined.
The session begins at 6:30 pm in the Library of the First
Presbyterian Church downtown. Enter the church on First Avenue
across from the CB&T parking garage between 11th and 12th
Streets.

Forum from the RiverCenter
The live diversity forum on Thursday, April 30 will feature
issues and concerns that affect the Chattahoochee Valley since
the election of President Barack Obama.
"The first 100 days" is the theme of the public
forum and how his policies have affected us here in the
Chattahoochee Valley.
WTVM is once again partnering with One Columbus to bring
this second public forum built around diversity and building
bridges among the citizens of this community from all walks of
life.
The live show requires attendees to be seated by 6:45 pm and
begins promptly at 7pm Eastern, 6 Central from the Studio
Theater in the RiverCenter.
The dialogue among the experts and the audience will
include what it means to have an African-American president, the
effect of the recession on our diverse cultures, and the
north/south divide within the city of Columbus.

Saturday, April 25 - Free CPR
offered by Red Cross
The American Red Cross West Central GA Chapter continues to
offer free CPR training and certification in the following
locations listed below.
In addition, the Red Cross will be traveling to surrounding
counties to distribute materials including fire prevention and
tornado safety.

Wednesdays continuing - April 29 - Race Relations Lecture
Billy Winn will teach "Let Justice
Run Down Like Water - Race Relations in Columbus from 1828 to
Present"
The course will continue on Wednesday nights for three more
weeks. Everyone is welcome. You may join the sessions anytime.
They will meet in the Parlor of the First Presbyterian Church.
"This course will trace the history of race relations in
Columbus and the Chattahoochee Valley, and will cover relations
between white settlers and the Indians, including their
enslavement; the slavery of people of African descent and the
role the churches played in regard to that institution;
secession and the Civil War; the post Civil War era and
Reconstruction; the Jim Crow era and the modern Civil Rights
movement; and race relations in recent years"

of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. You can access
